
In 2007, taking eliminating the black and odor in the waterways in urban areas, making the waterways in the suburbs meet the standard for different functional regions and constantly improving the water quality of the river courses within the range of whole city as targets, and putting emphasis on monitoring and appraising water environmental quality in all the districts and county and attaching priority to dredging the main waterways for improving water environment as required by the Three-Year Action Programme of Environmental Protection, regular monitoring of surface water quality, including monitoring the entry flux of pollutants, monitoring water quality in functional regions of water environment, ecological monitoring of water environment, monitoring water quality and other specific test items in the sources of drinking water and monitoring the micro organic compounds in the water coming from the upstream rivers, was strengthened.? While participating in monitoring the water quality of the network of rivers in offshore area, the network of rivers in the Yangtze River and the network of rivers around Tailu Lake, ecological restoration in Suzhou Creek and monitoring of the eutrophication in Dianshanhu Lake were also being undertaken along with a series of experimental ecological research based on biocoenological monitoring.? While continuing to assess and monitor the results from implementation of the Three-Year Action Programme, standardized operations and management of auto ambient air quality monitoring stations, and on-site quality guarantee and control as well, were carried out and promoted.? In addition, the validity of various data of ambient air quality monitoring was checked and verified meticulously.
2.5881 million pieces of date were collected from monitoring the essential environmental factors such as surface water, air, noise, organism and radiation; among which, 2.4003 million pieces of data were automatically monitored, 123.6 thousand pieces of data were obtained from routine water quality monitoring, 17.1 thousand pieces of data were of ambient air quality and 47.1 thousand pieces of data were of noise, organism and radiation.
Inspection without prior notice was made to 146 municipal-level enterprises where environmental protection was emphatically supervised for 68 times, from which, 84 hundred pieces of data were monitored at those major sources of pollution: 26 hundred pieces of data monitored from sewage and 58 hundred pieces, from industrial furnaces and kilns and waste gas.
