In 2007, the environmental protection authorities all over the city have heard and handled 39,989 cases of complaint about environmental pollution, among which, 98.3% of the 3,001 incoming letters / 1,610 person-times were handled and concluded; 99.6% of 34,060 incoming telephone calls were heard and dealt with; 97.4% of 750 visits / 1,610 person-times were received and disposed of; 99.1% of 2,178 emails were read and attended.

    Classified by the content of complaint, 3,064 cases, 7.7% of the total, were about water pollution; 10,546 cases, 26.4% of the total, about air pollution; 16,708 cases, 41.8% of the total, about noise pollution; 263 cases, 0.7% of the total, about pollution of solid waste; 19 cases, 0.05% of the total, about radioactive pollution; 219 cases, 0.5% of the total, about pollution of electromagnetic radiation; 3,586 cases, 9.0% of the total, about oil fume pollution; 60 cases, 0.15% of the total, about hazardous chemicals; 85 cases, 0.21% of the total, about pollution caused by farm pesticide and chemical fertilizer; 41 cases, 0.1% of the total, about pollution by livestock husbandry; 373 cases, 0.9% of the total, about pollution by new construction projects; 8 cases, 0.02% of the total, about environmental monitoring; and 5017 cases, 12.5% of the total, about other kind of pollution.
